HORNBILL AMONG EAGLES

"It was my pleasure to meet Angela in January 1973 and our friendship has continued to grow over the years with my sincere appreciation. Her latest book reveals her extrordinary journey of courage and enthusiasm to live and adapt to a new and different culture and life style.  She writes of her insights, doubts, challenges, heart aches as well as her joys and adventures.  Her thirsts for knowledge and self growth reveals her beautiful strong spirit.  I have called Angela "one in a BILLION" for all she has done and contributed to others. Both of her books are pure inspirational and worthy of reading."

HORNBILL'S DAUGHTER

"Let me start by saying that my 14 year old daughter, who is only into fantasy, read the whole book in just one sitting. Her comment was that the book was amazing, and truly is. This autobiographical book relates the story of a little girl that grew up in the jungles of Malaysia and by means of persistence and hard work achieved education and a better life. There are many books out there with this theme, but what makes this book different is how well the author connects the reader with her story. This book also provides a glimpse to the history of Malaysia, paganism and its influence in Sarawak, poverty and lack of opportunities in the 50's and 60's, and other topics that fully complement this really compelling story. Overall Angela Miller has put together a really great story that can be enjoyed by everyone. You can forgive the author for a few grammatical errors throughout the book because the story more than makes up for it. This is a highly recommended book for anyone who wants to have a spirit lift. Enjoy!"  - R. Villagomez

"The descriptions of her challenges, determination and success ,as she struggled with the conflict between her culture and her thirst for knowledge. I was mesmerised by the stories within stories , and her reflections and desire to respect her parents' beliefs yet pursue her dreams. The story has everything to engage the reader. Insightful descriptions of life in the jungle, the complexities of family relationships ,the struggle to get the education she so desperately wanted and the real life forbidden romance. This book is quite extraordinary and is like nothing I have read before.I look forward to the second book to learn how the life of HornBill's daughter evolves." - B M McAlister

It is a true story. I enjoyed reading about a place in the world I am not familiar with. Riveting. - M. Parson

"I loved reading Miller's story of her personal quest--at all risk--to pursue her inherent sense of worth and purpose. Knowing somehow that it was her right and responsibility to be educated, to explore, and to accomplish something more , this young girl faced enormous challenges that were physical, psychological, and cultural. The descriptions of life in that sector of the world, in the deeply remote jungle villages, and the hardship one faced to merely survive, raised my respect--not only for her--but for anyone who has a dreamer within. It takes courage to even dream of the things Angela Miller dreamed of, and it takes an indomitable spirit to have brought them to fruition. The book reminded me that none of us may know the final outcome of pursuing our dreams, but to my mind we dishonor the source of those dreams if we do not walk into the future bravely and boldly. In doing so, we gain the confidence that we can, in fact, experience anything."

"I recommend this humbly-written book very highly."  - L. Kessler
